Spot yourself in Acton carnival’s past! +MAS RESISTANCE, a portrait of traditional mas culture + characters; & The Pan Man.
Launching Acton Carnival with warm-up event including live music, films and a Q&A panel discussion taking place in the cinema and at our lounge.
Come along and spot yourself in the carnival’s past!
This year we are delighted to show MAS RESISTANCE, a portrait of the Williams family, whose lives revolve around Notting Hill Carnival as they strive to keep traditional mas culture and characters alive. It also is a poetic experience, visualising the magical essence of Carnival through rich images, iconic music and original poetry from Forward Prize Winning Poet Malika Booker.
The Pan Man is a must-see to gain insight into how Notting Hill Carnival started. Winner of best origins film at Portobello Film Festival, this short documentary tells the story of local musician Russ Henderson MBE.
Tickets are free for the event but we strongly advise you to book your place to ensure a seat for the screenings.
