This work discusses the pleasures and perils of human involvement in our environment.
I have combined digital transfer prints of an exquisite avenue of mature trees in Gladstone Park, North London with abandoned objects I found whilst out walking.
Our intervention in the environment is celebrated in the depiction of the trees, but the ravages of non biodegradable littering are also considered here.
Unlike their originals, the organic and manufactured elements of the found objects offer us equal visual interest, expressing the difficulties of balancing the protection of our urban green spaces with our enjoyment of them and the subsequent littering with the remnants of our own consumerism.
